The Hut
The Hut
.
Hawkins Brown x Richard Wood
After reloading their head offices, for the first time in 35 years Hawkins Brown have a ground floor presence in London. Free of desks, the space extends into the public realm as a performative environment—hosting lectures, workshops, yoga sessions, panel discussions, and supper clubs—designed to show rather than tell what they do.
Marking the threshold is Hut, created in collaboration with artist Richard Woods. Referencing the cabins and retreats of writers, philosophers, and even Snoopy, it disrupts the status quo while offering a spirited welcome.
This film follows the Hut from conception to completion. Partner Morag Morrison shares the initial inception, we then visit Richard Woods where he reveals his design process in his studio whilst crafting the piece. It is finally installed in the Hawkins\Brown office and captured in use as part of their dynamic new space.
I have created many films with Hawkins Brown over the years, but this is one of two in collaboration with an Artist. The other one being Public Art Matters in collaboration with Bob and Roberta Smith.
